We performed a visual inspection and found no apparent defects. We found severe oil leaks that ended up falling into the exhaust manifold and causing smoke (leaking valve cover, upper and lower timing cover, and vacuum pump). We performed a diagnostic according to the manufacturer's manual. We began by checking the fuel trims, which when driving were indicating a rich condition: closed loop, short fuel trim -19, long fuel trim -14. We then checked the ignition system. To do this, using an oscilloscope, we installed a coil-on-plug analyzer to see the burn time. We observed abnormalities in the burn time of all four coils, indicating problems with the spark plugs. Upon removing one, we found that the plugs were incorrect. Copper-tipped Autolite plugs were installed, which are incorrect for turbocharged engines. Recommended R&R spark plugs and retest.
